In a few months I’m going to finish school and I’m looking forward to this event, because my life is going to change complete and a great number of new opportunities will crop up. All students are quite nervous these days as the results of final and entrance exams will influence their future. I hope you understand that there are various situations in which different personality types can react in their own way.

Four main types of character can be distinguished: aggressive — they use aggression and sometimes physical violence to get their own way. They can also resort to sarcasm and gossip as a means of attack; passive (victim) who has negative, self-pitying outlook on life. They blame other people for their bad luck; mixed type-passive-aggressive- who act indirectly and aggressively. Their behavior includes attacking people in writing rather than face-to-face, making fun of others’ anger, refusing to reveal what they are thinking. The fourth type and the most attractive one is assertive. They usually make it clear to people what they want and at the same time they do not ignore other people’s feeling. So, here they are and now I am wondering how they would behave in the same situation. Don’t you agree it would be better if we imagined all these personalities queuing for the train tickets and an old lady trying to skip to the front of the queue? Well, I really do think that the Aggressive type would resort to shouting using offensive words or even pushing. The “Victim” would do nothing, he would be filled with negative feelings and would never give way to his emotions which would do only harm to him. The third type would incite others not to let the lady to the head of the queue. The assertive type would stay calm, reasonable, but if he didn’t like the situation he would resolutely tell the lady about it and would get his own way.

I believe that the most successful ways of getting your own way are: Mirroring – People are most easily influenced by people who they perceive to be similar to themselves. So, one way to influence someone is to mirror them.  Mirror their speech and their actions. Reciprocation – Do someone a favor and they are more likely to return it. Smile – Smiles are powerful influencers.  People like people who smile.

In conclusion, I would like to pinpoint that there a lot of situations in which different characters react in their own way. And I believe that it’s better to be aggressive to some extend but ambitious and get what you want, rather than stay

A museum is an institution that cares for a collection of artifacts and other objects of scientific, artistic, cultural, or historical importance and makes them available for public viewing through exhibits. Due to museums we have a brilliant opportunity to get acquainted with history and culture of other countries and people. So, I strongly believe that the main function of a museum is to educate and introduce beauty that is the esthetic function.

But there are museums whose exhibits can be very controversial. Among them is The Kunstkamera (or the Cabinet of Curiosities) that was established by Peter the Great in 1727 and is situated in St. Petersburg. The Kunstkammer Building hosts the Peter the Great Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography, with a collection of almost 2,000,000 items which are natural and human curiosities and oddities. This museum is definitely not for the faint-hearted. Here you can come across human and animal fetuses with anatomical abnormalities and also different scientific and medical instruments. Nowadays people can’t imagine their life without TV. I’ve been surfing the Net and found out that about 92% of people watch TV a lot.

TV was invented by John Baird in the mid-1920s. First it was black and white. Since 1980s there have been three major (мэйджа) developments of TV. The first is video, which has given viewers (зрители) the power to control what they watch and when they watch it. The second is satellite (‘сэтилайт) TV. Thanks to it, dozens of new channels are now available to everyone who buys a receiving «dish». The third development is cable TV. Personally I have satellite TV and I’m really satisfied with it. There is a great number of channels to choose from and it offers a great variety of programs to watch: news, sport, cartoons, music, movies, reality shows, quiz shows and shows about gadgets and machines which are my favorite, actually. I enjoy watching “How it’s made”, “Hot rod”, “Myths busters”, “5th equivalent”, ”Big constructions”. Watching such programs I can learn how things are made and even repair or create something myself. For instance, recently I’ve watched “How it’s made” and I’ve learnt how light bulbs are produced, what kinds of bulbs exist and how they work. This programme is really amazing and useful for our life that fits the standards of the 21st century. My favorite channels are Discovery, Animal Planet, Planet Earth etc. I’m not keen on watching soap operas, but sometimes I do watch sitcoms, for instance “Univer” on TNT channel. Читать далее…

Yesterday, the time had also finally come here in Ukraine: Sunrise Avenue’s new album Out Of Style which was long-awaited among the fans showed up in the record shops. Also we had tensely been waiting for the new tunes by Helsinki, the frontman. Especially the title of the album and some teasers on YouTube made me really curious. The members of the band are exactly the same and luckily no changes have been made since the time it was created in 2002. Five-piece band includes: the frontman, two bas-guitarists, the drummer and the keyboardist.

Tuneful pop-rock together with unpretentious lyrics make their songs clear to the audience and help them score a triumph.

Hollywood Hills is not only the opening track of the album, but was also released already a few weeks ago as pre-release single and so it wasn’t really new for me. The album version is exactly the same as the single version. A catchy song made for being played on the radio and for making you want more. As a single, I could imagine that this one is able to tie in with the success of Fairytale Gone Bad. Читать далее…

Sounds are everywhere. Few places are really quiet. Car engines (Энжинз) roar. Telephones ring. Doors squeak and bang. Computer mouse clicks. Dentist’s drill whines (вайнс). Even if you think that you are in complete silence, you can still unconsciously (анконшесли)hear sounds.

There’s also a phenomenon known as “Synaesthesia” (синиСизиа)-an ability to hear sounds when looking at the subjects when the sound itself is no being produced. I believe it is a very interesting sphere of studying. And I consider that people who have Synaesthesia are very lucky and have a brighter life. People who have this syndrome can hear sound every time whatever they are doing.

Personally, I don’t believe I have Synaesthesia, but music helps me concentrate on my work and muffles outside noises. So, I constantly listen to music when I do my h/w or tidy my room. All my actions are connected with music. I’m fond of various kinds of it and very often it depends on my moon and on an activity I’m busy with. Most of all I enjoy pop-rock with crashing guitar chords(кодз), husky voices and subtly (сатл)tinkling keyboard playing. Читать далее…
